Cerys Murphy is a visual artist working with text-based pieces, combining short-form storytelling through various media and street art. Drawing inspiration from her own experiences, Cerys has developed a unique autobiographical style that blends ruthless honesty with humour.

Her artistic journey began in 2020 while living in Dublin, Ireland. Faced with difficulty accessing art supplies due to skyrocketing demand during the pandemic and the closures of the few art shops Dublin had to offer, Cerys created the alter ego 'Dirtee Murfee'. Dirtee Murfee (also affectionately known as Cerys) started using car paint from DIY shops on the walls of Dublin as a form of expression. This included politically charged protest pieces highlighting the absence of revenge porn laws in Ireland, tributes to her Irish roots and Irish culture, and tongue-in-cheek messaging about Covid-19, among other motivational works.

Her efforts garnered praise from multiple media outlets, propelling her into recognition within the creative industry in Dublin. Cerys, now based in her home city of London, has accumulated a devoted cult following and client base. Which ultimately leading to her securing her inaugural solo show within the first two years with industry giant Steve Lazarides.

Cerys continues to infuse her canvas with the dynamic spirit of street art, preserving a 'decaying, worn, and post-vandalism' texture beneath her text as a homage to the origins of her journey on the pasted, buffed, and weathered walls of Dublin City.
